Issue 13: A sneaky peek

Finally – your first glimpse at our next issue. It’s been a whirlwind: climbing mythic peaks and tickling cycling’s counter-cultural underbelly, taking a spin around the world’s smallest velodrome, following a girl as she raced her visa allowance across China, considering the emotional power of potholes and meeting a man who’s building a recumbent crocodile….

Mags will be winging their way to our lovely stockists next week.

Never want to miss a copy? Our fine friends at Newsstand will gladly sort out your Christmas gift subscriptions.  It’s the gift that keeps on giving. And speaking of gifts, there’s lots of fabulous stuff for bicycle lovers here.

Gospel Pass Ride with Rob Penn & Bella Bathurst

We had a cracking ride with Rob PennBella Bathurst, Jet McDonald and members of The Bristol Bike project last weekend. Starting at Rob’s place in Abergavenny, then up up and up the Gospel Pass for some seriously stunning views out towards the ‘Welsh Desert’. Then a HUGE descent and a gentle, undulating pedal back to Rob’s for a homecooked stew, yum! Whattaday 🙂

Bike Smut returns…

Like bike porn? You’re gonna love this…

bike smut

Last year Boneshaker teamed up with the pedal-pushing, politically aware perverts at Bike Smut to host a little party in Bristol. We had a mini-bike grand-prix, a bike carousel, live music and a bunch of Bike Smut’s bicycle-based films, that explore ideas about sex and sexuality. It was pretty saucy and very funny, mostly poking fun at the porn industry and its dubious cinematic aesthetic. Tongue in cheek. And tongue in a few other places too.

Anyway….  the Bike Smut crew are back in town, coming to one of Boneshaker’s favourite hangouts, the Cube cinema. It’ll be a filthy-funny night out. Bag yourself a ticket here.

N.B. Bike Smut tends to be rather smutty. If you’re easily offended, close your eyes. And your ears. Or don’t come. Oops, smut again. Oh well, you know what we mean.

We Are BIP

Boneshaker’s proud to be a founder-member of Bristol Independent Publishers: a group of independent publishers who run their magazines out of Bristol, UK. We’ve banded together to help showcase the wonderful things happening in Bristol publishing, and to prove that some of the best UK magazines aren’t coming out of multi-national print houses – but small studio spaces, back rooms and coffee shops.

And lookee here – we’re having a little party to celebrate all that, at Boneshaker’s friendly home-from-home, the cycle cafe Roll for the Soul.

It’ll be a laid-back night thick with the smell of lovely printed things. And beer. Roll on down!
